Recreating habits is often a struggle for many of us particularly the healthy habits we worked hard for before holidays. As the mornings grow colder and darker and the holiday sleep-ins leach into the working week it is important to remember what you successfully achieved before you had a break. The fact that once before you created healthy habits, that you went from struggling through a 10 minute walk to jogging for 30 minutes or even that your jeans got too baggy for you. All of those small wins need to be put into context to show yourself that you can achieve healthy behaviours again.
How did you start out last time? Was it putting on your 3 favourite songs to get you through your walk? Did you read a book on your stationary bike? Or did you desperately wanted to fit into your favourite piece of clothing for a special occasion? Restart your routine by reminding yourself of your why. Why are you doing this exercise? Who does it serve and who does it help? What does leading a healthy life mean for you and your family? Once you have tapped into this endless pool of motivation, MAKING the time to exercise will be easy. Soon enough you will be looking for ways to extend your exercise periods and in a couple of short weeks you will be over the holiday break and back on the path to achieving your health goals? Good Luck!
